Review: Monster
Every now and then an anime comes along that completely redefines the posibilities of what can be achieved through the medium. This is the nature of Monster, a 74 episode epic that weaves together a sprawling tale of murder, mystery, crime and evil forces. At its heart is the story of a doctor attempting to track down a serial killer, but Monster is much, much more than this.

Christmas is almost here again, and what better way to celebrate it than with festive themed videogames? The Ultimate Cable Guide – How to get the best picture from your retro games (part I)
If you’ve ever tried to plug your old Super Nintendo or Mega Drive into a modern, High Definition television, then it’s likely that you were quite horrified with the results. Without the right set up, and the right cables, retro games don’t look good – especially on new TVs. But working out what kit your need, and what will work best for you, can be more that a little confusing. That’s why I’ve put together this guide, which starts with the basics but also covers all the complicated stuff you’ll need to help get the best picture from your retro games.
This Week’s Purchase: Super Smash Bros. (for Wii U) with adapter + GameCube Controller
What’s everyone’s favourite version of Super Smash Bros.? Mine is Melee for the Nintendo GameCube, although the N64 original is a close second. The game was always well suited to the Cube’s smart controller design, and due to a distinct lack of buttons on the Wiimote this also became the optimum way to play its sequel, Brawl. For the newest game Nintendo have undeniably gone all out, and this includes the option to use the fan favourite controller with the Wii U for the first time. Today I’ve been doing just that, and will look at the items needed to enjoy new Smash Bros. the old school way.
Review: Muramasa Rebirth + Genroku Legends
Muramasa Rebirth is one of the nicest looking games on the PlayStation Vita. It’s also a hell of a lot of fun to play, and with its additional DLC there’s an awful lot to see and do. As well as the original, adapted from the 2009 Wii game ‘Muramasa: The Demon Blade’, Vita owners have been treated with four smaller stories that make up the Genroku Legends. After a slow release schedule the full package is finally here, and today I’ll be reviewing the complete version of Muramasa Rebirth.
13 games to play this Halloween
With Halloween less than a week away I’m sure there’s only one thing on everyone’s mind; appropriate games for the occasion. This could be a terrifying horror game, an atmospheric Gothic adventure, or maybe just something with a giant pumpkin boss. Whatever you’re into there’s probably something for you in my list of Halloween recommendations.
This Week’s Purchase: Bayonetta 2: First Print Edition
This week I purchased Bayonetta 2: First Print Edition for the Wii U, an item that has gained notoriety for its small production run and quick sell out time. In total 15,300 copies were produced, and whilst this wouldn’t be too unusual for a more niche game, Bayonetta 2 is the most exciting title to grace the Wii U in quite a long time. I was fortunate enough to pick up a copy myself, and today I’m going to open it up and go through what’s inside.
Review: Forza Horizon 2
I’m beginning to wonder if Playground Games have ever actually been to a music festival. In Forza Horizon 2 there’s no tent to pitch, no bands to watch, and no drugs to take. Instead you drive supercars, smash up the streets of Southern France, and steal old wrecks from barns. That’s not to say there’s no chance to party hard however, and an early cutscene reveals that the drivers stay up till 4am before the first day of races. Obviously a night of drinking it totally safe and responsible before a day of street races, theft, and destruction.
