The Third Birthday
Today is Dracula’s Cave’s third birthday. Sorry about the misleading title. It has been a very busy year and loads of cool stuff has happened, but right now I must confess that I am in need of a rest. I know I haven’t posted a review in a while, normal business will resume soon… I promise. Until then, please enjoy your stay at Dracula’s Cave.
Lion Quest launches on Steam
Today is the day! Lion Quest, the first game by Dracula’s Cave, is available now on Steam and Humble Store. Take Jethro the Lion on a magical journey, traversing space and time to prevent the imminent collapse of the universe. Oh and your friend Ronald the Bear is missing, maybe you can find him whilst you’re out exploring?
+10
I spoke too soon, Lion Quest will launch on Steam July 11th – ten days later than expected. The reason for this delay is to ensure I won’t be releasing during the middle of the Steam Summer Sale (apparently doing so is a really bad idea), but it will also give me the chance to test and fine-tune the living hell out of the game for another ten joyous days. Thank you for your patience and as always, please enjoy your stay at Dracula’s Cave.
July 1st 2016
Hey, that game I’m making now has a Coming Soon page on Steam. I’ve also made a website for it that you can check out at lionquest.co and there’s even a press section for inquiries.
Finally, to conclude today’s news announcement I’ve got a release date to share with you…! Please see title.
Review: Code Geass: Akito the Exiled
So I’m going to try something I’ve not done before – that’s covering five movies in one review. Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is a series of five hour-long films that saw theatrical screenings in Japan and recently concluded after five years of releases. Collectively they tell an epic war story set between Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R1 and R2, bridging the gap between the two anime series.
Dracula’s Cave presents: Lion Quest
Did you know I’ve been making a videogame? I’ve not talked about it on DC for a while as development was initially total CHAOS, but today I’ve come prepared. I have a trailer to show you and I have GIFs…! Yes, it’s finally time for me to introduce a game I like to call Lion Quest.
Review: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
There’s really a lot to like about Uncharted 4. This is an adventure that jumps between genres in much the same way that Nathan Drake leaps between crumbling structures, swinging around around on his grapple hook without a care in the world. You are shooting stuff, climbing stuff, solving puzzles and traveling the globe in search of treasure. It’s a thrilling and cinematic ride that concludes the Uncharted series on a high note.
General news
“At some point I will sort out some of the older content on the site and tidy things up around here” – Me, September 2015
This is actually starting to happen now, at least for the anime section. Did I really spend a day and a half doing nothing but making banners? Yes. Should you check them out? Yes. Will I do the same thing for the games section soon? Hmm….
Review: Hyper Light Drifter
In balancing retro aesthetic with modern mechanics, Hyper Light Drifter stands out as a notable success. Its striking visuals, open ended design and fast, punishing combat makes for a unique experience, but the comparisons to other great videogames are also plenty. Think Fez meets Dark Souls meets The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past, and be very excited.
Review: Erased
Erased crafts its own special type of time travel that sits somewhere between Steins;Gate, Life is Strange and, Groundhog Day. It tells a story spilt between two timelines, and whilst it partially delivers as an exciting and intense thriller, what also stands out is how frequently Erased does something that feels weird and disjointed.
