Dracula’s Cave presents: Lion Quest
Did you know I’ve been making a videogame? I’ve not talked about it on DC for a while as development was initially total CHAOS, but today I’ve come prepared. I have a trailer to show you and I have GIFs…! Yes, it’s finally time for me to introduce a game I like to call Lion Quest.
Take Jethro the Lion on a magical journey, traversing space and time to prevent the imminent collapse of the universe. Oh and your friend Ronald the Bear is missing, maybe you can find him whilst you’re out exploring? Discover a huge world and enjoy an adventure that blends together retro platforming fun with a mix of 2D + 3D mechanics and a modern design aesthetic.
If you’ve frequented Dracula’s Cave then you’ll probably already know about my love for retro games. Lion Quest is inspired by classics such as Duck Tales, Mega Man, Psycho Fox, Castle of Illusion and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. I wanted to make a game like they use to make ’em, but one that also includes 3D effects, massive levels, and more complex features that wouldn’t be possible on older hardware.
Lion Quest has been Greenlit for release on Steam, and will launch with support for Windows, Mac and Linux/Steam OS. The game includes local 2-player co-op for the main story, local versus multiplayer for up to four players, and a fifty stage arcade mode.
More details will follow… soon!
That’s awesome! Is this the first game you’ve done? It looks great and I’m excited to see more of it.
Thank you kindly! Yes, I’ve worked on a few non-commercial projects before but this is the first game that will get finished and released :)
Congrats on getting Steam greenlit. I shall keep an eye out for the game.
Thank you!
